Meet Darla

It was love at first sight. I had been searching for a dog that would be a good companion for Will. I was originally looking for a yorkie.  Then I contacted Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and was told that Will would be a good candidate for a therapy dog but there was a long waiting list. So on Saturday morning, Jerry and Katherine went to the Marin Humane Society to scope things out. Darla was a new arrival and she chose Jerry. Next step was for both girls to go to the humane society to see if Darla would pass the Stephanie test. Stephanie is very picky. She had the greatest fear of dogs since birth and we have had to work so hard with her to get over it. She still has some fear with some breeds, I'm not sure of her criteria. It may have something to do with cuteness and girly factor. Darla passed. Then we brought Will there, it's just down the road in case you were wondering. Will really did well. We met with the behavioral therapist to get interviewed. The therapist thought Darla would be a good family fit. So here we go! Wish us luck. I know you'll be seeing lots of her.

My neighbor girls (Haylee and Alyssa) are going to be flower girls at a wedding and Jolee bribed me into doing the hems of their foufy dresses.

Check out all of these layers. After getting through one dress, I clearly needed some coaxing for the second one. Jolee suggested that we make a quick winery run on Friday and she bought me a lovely bottle of shiraz from Buenavista Winery. Smart girls know how to butter up their seamstresses.

Now let me go wrestle those hems.

What a nice dress! I'm so proud of Stephanie! I know that getting another dog is a big step for her, and Darla is absolutely gorgeous.

You mean you were originally looking for a yorkshire terrier?
