Scary

Happy belated Halloween everyone. I want to be that swinging Hepcat in the skirt!

We had a rather quiet Halloween. Not a trick or treater in sight. Thank goodness we didn't go all out, or I would have felt ripped off.

I do have to share a new doll that Stephanie got in the mail. She saved her allowance for months to get this Blythe doll. Her eyes change color by pulling a string in the back of her head. She loves her! I think I have to make some clothes for her.

I have to show you some of her other dolls. She has such an eclectic collection. I love Mr. Clean!

October is also Socktoberfest month. I thought I would be able to crank out a pair of socks with little effort. I was so wrong. This move to Michigan confused me so much. I am still organizing my stash room. I still cannot find my ipod and it is driving me batty. Any suggestions or hints on where to look would be appreciated. I got one sock done rather fast. I used my last skein of Miss Babs yarn and made a ruffled top cuff (from Lucy Neatby's book) and grabbed a random pattern from Charlene Schurch's Sensational knitted socks book. The first sock was fast and easy.

But then the Chiclone (Chicago+Cyclone=Chiclone!) hit us. Winds whipped through the area like nobody's business. Jerry was in DC at a conference and the power went out. I had no idea that when the power goes out, the water goes out too. The kids and I had flashlights and camped out in the living room. Not much knitting got done on sock number two. At least that's my excuse.

I did get the second sock finished today. A little late, but that's okay. That's another pair for the holiday gift pile.

We did some baking today. Cornish pasties filled with shredded roast beef, potatoes and carrots. They weren't as messy to make as I imagined. Next time I will attempt to find a gluten free version so we can all enjoy them.
